War of the First Coalition

The Napoleonic wars completed the final unravelling of the empire. The wheels truly started coming off the cart from 1797 To 1806. Created the Republic of France. The French waged a victorious campaign in Italy which brought them within 100 miles of Vienna.
With the French on their doorstep, the Austrians sued for peace. French victories in Italy led to the rise of Bonaparte.
